For some reason, net.suicide was the victim of a rmgroup control message. As this is an officially sanctioned (read: There was discussion on it and the net accepted it and it is now active), I have recreated it.

Net.suicide is back? And I thought it had just killed itself off. Chalk up another one for software inertia. Old programs never die. They just... never die. - Mike Hawley

I think that this newsgroup is ridiculous unless it is taken seriously, which it is not, apparently. In any other respects, it is a waste of time and money. There should be reassurance for anybody who might actually be contemplating suicide that he/she might find support here. It seems to me that he/she would first be ridiculed and taken for a jokester.... Then what? Glenn Reid

Why was this group removed??? The net would be totally DEAD without this group!!!

Net.suicide has had some very serious discussions in the past, including discussions about the ethics of suicide, death in general, life after death, and reincarnation. I think it has the potential for future serious discussions along those lines as well, and I'm sure that at some point they will occur. In the mean time, I find nothing wrong with a few attempts at humor in this newsgroup; in fact, I find many of them quite refreshing. Steve Zimmerman decvax!cca!z z@cca-unix
