Here's an odd problem. I built a small (25-record) database using PC Tools Version 5.5 Databases on a Zenith Z248/12Mhz machine. Printed the entire database to the printer (after selecting all records): no problem. Then tried to print all records to a file: only record one prints. Repeat carefully choosing ALL records, etc., until face := blue. Same story. Took the DBF file home to my identical machine (same model, monitor, disks, memory, screen-saver and everything) and tried it: it works just fine. I installed both packages the same way to the best of my memory BUT I USE A MOUSE WITH PC TOOLS AT HOME. Naah, can't be that. Back to work; same story. Try it on a Kaypro XT with no mouse; only one record prints to file. Try it on a Grid 386/20Mhz with different TSR mix and a mouse; prints all records just fine to a file. Try it on the mousy Grid USING KEYSTROKES TO SELECT; it prints all records just fine. Huh?? Central Point's initial BBS response from Tech Support is that this is a known bug in V 5.5 that will be fixed in later releases. But the flavor of the response sounded like "we know print-to-file doesn't ever work." THAT'S not true. It just doesn't work sometimes. Any other horror stories or good-news stories out there I can use for additional data points?? Thanks for any you can send; if there's enough interest I'll summarize and post.
