[comp.sys.zenith] dead Zenith LP286

I have a Zenith LP286 (small footprint 12mhz AT clone) that recently
died.  When turned on it immediately starts beeping, and continues
to beep without booting.  The machine is a little over a year old.
The man from Heath predicts that the motherboard will have to be
replaced, for as much as $500.  A couple of questions:

Has anyone else experienced such a problem?

Is there a source for cheap motherboards that can be swapped for
the zenith?  Doing without zenith rom is ok, but the board has to
fit the case, have the kbd socket on the front, etc.
