[comp.sys.zenith] 3.5" drives on Z-248's

ecollins@nmsu.edu (Edward Collins) (12/05/90)

What has to be done to a Z248 to add a 3.5" disk drive? There is no
entry in the monitor program for anything except hard drives and 5.25.
Some kind of ROM upgrade I suspect. Has anyone done this?

Please respond with e-mail. I'll summarize if there's enough response.
I appologize if this has been brought up before. Thanks in advance.

Mike.

I'm having this very thing done today. A ROM upgrade is necessary
if you don't see the 720 or 1.44 entries in the monitor program's
setup display. If your MSDOS version is high enough to include
DRIVPARM (not sure about the spelling of that), you may get lucky
and find that installing it as a DEVICE in your config.sys will
work. I'm no expert in this stuff (my hardware abilities don't go
much farther than plugging the thing in :-)), so take these comments
with a healthy skepticism.
