[comp.sys.zenith] What to do with a broken Zenith SuperSport 286

huntley@copper.ucs.indiana.edu (Haydn Huntley) (01/23/91)

This machine may need a new main board, or it may be that the power
supply has a problem. Its symptoms are that it turns on, but it
doesn't clear the screen, or startup the hard disk or floppy drive.
It doesn't happen every time, but as the months go on, more and more
frequently it won't start up, and finally one begins to look at it as
less and less and frequently it functions!

Any words of advice, or sources for spare parts? I might be
interested in buying another broken one, or trading this one for a 386
clone. BTW, does anyone know if the 40Mb drive in this machine can be
used with an IDE hard disk controller, or any other kind of readily
available hard disk controller? It would be nice if I could at least
use the Conner 40Mb HD in my next machine...

Thanks in Advance!
