[comp.sys.zenith] 386sx supersport emm.sys driver

jackw@nstar.rn.com (Jack Wiggins) (03/22/91)

Can anyone help me track down the proper EMM.SYS driver for the 386sx
supersport? I purchased a used one that had EMM.SYS in the DOS on the hard
drive (7001 bytes 9-15-88) but if I try to configure the machine for 2 megs
of expanded memory and run DEVICE=EMM.SYS in the config.sys, the machine
refuses to boot. Do I have the wrong driver or am I doing something wrong
here?

Do you have a driver called EMM386.SYS? I got both with my Toshiba, and
EMM386.SYS will convert exTended memory to exPanded memory (on 386's only),
while EMM.SYS will only work with "hardware capable of providing expanded
memory under MS-DOS 4.0" (i.e. an expanded memory board).

Zenith's OEM version of DOS will undoubtedly be different than Toshiba's,
but look for a driver with '386' in the name.

Failing that, check your firmware setup [Ctrl-Alt-Ins](?) and see if you can
set up exPanded memory that way.
