[comp.sys.zenith] Improving performance of ZF-248

Kevin Maher <KDM101@psuvm.psu.edu> (03/25/91)

I have a somewhat ancient ZF-248 (one of the first 286 clones available)
that runs at 8mhz 0-waitstate ... Has anybody toyed around with a way to
speed this machine up a bit? I'm not looking for blazing speed, but if I
could jack it up to 10 or 12 mhz by a simple CPU chip replacement, I'd do
it. I know where I can get the CPU chips.. (relatively cheap too) but is
there something else I need to consider?

If it's too much work or money I'm not going to bother, hopefully, in a few
months, I'll be able to purchase that "dream" 386 system. (486 is still too
far up in the clouds)

thanks
