[net.micro] S-100 Music Boards

Yes, the DR(of texax) board is very good. I have had mine for about
a year now and it does some nice things. There is, however, a design
flaw in it which causes distortion between the voices. They tied all
three of the output lines togather then ran that combined signal through
a cap to the input of the amp. Acording to a note in the online doc for
'composer' a PD program for generating and playing music from sheet that
is available from your local RCPM site, the fix to this is to run each
individual output from the chip through its own cap into the amp. I
have yet to try this on my board but it does sound like it would reduce
the cross channel distortion. (you might check this out on your board
too..)

I do not know if they still sell the board. I hope they did not
discontinue it. I bought the board with both channels and their support
software that allows the interpretive generation of sounds. My personal
opinion of the software is that it is better than nothing (barely). A
much better system could easily be build out of a set of FORTH verbs by
someone who likes FORTH.
