We have a large number of Zenith 286LP systems running on our Pathworks network. In order to acheive the greatest amount of conventional memory, it is necessary to use both eXtended (XMS) and Expanded (EMS) memory into which network software can be loaded. The problem is that the Zenith 286 supports wierd combinations of XMS/EMS memory (at least through the CMOS SETUP). Currently the systems have 640K conventional and 384K EMS. However, to get *both* types of additional memory, a configuration of 3072K XMS and 2048K EMS is required! This seems dumb. Is there another way? Is there any driver for using EMS as XMS? Is their a Zenith ROM BIOS upgrade that might address this? Any assistance would be appreciated. --- Les Flodrowski CA: les@vaxi.sscl.uwo.CA Social Science Computing Laboratory Bitnet: les@uwovax.BITNET University of Western Ontario UUCP: les@julian.UUCP London, Ontario, Canada, N6A 5C2 (...!watmath!julian..)
