[comp.ivideodisc] What's the story with CD-I?

jellinghaus-robert@CS.Yale.EDU (Rob Jellinghaus) (02/23/89)

I assume this is the most appropriate newsgroup in which to ask these
questions:

Does anyone out there know the latest poop on CD-I? Are there any proto-
type players around yet? Are the big companies still shooting for a
Christmas '89 introduction? If not, then when? Any new news on hot
CD-I development projects? Is the format dead in the water before it
even begins? Or will there be lots of neat stuff?

And is there any chance I'll be able to get a unit that acts as a High
Sierra CD-ROM drive (with a SCSI port), AND is a full-blown CD-I unit,
AND can play CD Audio discs well? And if so, for what cost???

Inquiring minds want to know...
