I've been having a problem with a PAL CD-V disc, and I am intrested
to know if anyone has seen this problem before and whether there is
a cure.
The disc concerned is a CDV 12", Mike Oldfield - The Wind Chimes, the
player is a Philips CDV-475 combi with rev 3.1 firmware.
Track 2 runs from 0:20 to 22:19, track 3 from 22:19 to 25:36 (I think
these figures are right), anyway track 2 is over 21 minutes long. The
problem is that if I program play of track 2 and then track 3, it does
not play the full length of track 2, instead stopping at 9:58 and jumping
straight to track 3 start at 22:19.
This could be:
a) a bug in the player firmware (I intend to get an up-rev ROM
when Philips service start issuing parts)
b) a mastering error on the disc (It's a nice disc, so I probably
wouldn't return it... anyway, it's so unlikely it would be
remastered for a silly fault like this)
c) there is a built-in limitation on the length of a track (This
could cause real problems if it's true!)
Any guesses which of the above may be the problem? Anyone out there
with this disc and a Pioneer CLD-1200 or a Sony MDP-212 care to comment?
Regards, Bevis
