We have been using the Mass MicroSystems ColorSpace II board to do video overlay with the Mac II. By and large I am pleased with the board. It does what it claims to do and is fairly easy to set up and use. It requires the use of either and NTSC monitor or multisync type RGB monitor to display its output. I haven't had a chance to upgrade to a IIi which is supposed to work with Apple RGB monitor. You can produce decent quality overlay graphics but they have to be designed specifically for use as overlays. With the II I am using an interlaced RGB monitor and your typical 1 pixel line mac graphics (mostly horizontal) will jitter like mad. Titlebars look especially nasty. Now we just need someone to produce a $800 video overlay board, and while your at it throw in a real-time digital frame buffer so I can put my video in a window. If anyone has specific questions about the Mass Micro board, feel free to e-mail or call. I have no affiliation with Mass Microsystems, just like their board. -Mark Mark Collien mac9067@ritvax.bitnet Interactive Media Laboratory {..decvax}!rochester!ritcv!mac9067 Rochester Institute of Technology mac9067%ucss@cs.rit.edu Rochester, NY 14623-0887 USA 716-475-6625
