[comp.ivideodisc] Developing Videodiscs

kevans@attila.WEITEK.COM (Keith Evans) (03/06/90)

Some friends of mine have some books which they would like
to transfer to videodisc, and they were wondering what the
best way to accomplish this would be.

They have a set of four books of Gregorian chants, totaling
roughly 4000 pages. Each page is about 2 feet long. The images are all
in black and red and some are quite detailed.

Right now they are leaning towards having a professional photographer
take slides of all the pages with closeups of the fine detail, and then
somehow transferring the images to videodisc. They would like to use the
standard commercial videodisc format.

Does anybody have experience in getting 35mm slides transferred onto
videodisc? Or is there a better method of getting these transferred onto disc?

Also, does anybody have any names of companies that will produce outside
videodiscs, along with pricing information? I gave my friends the list
of companies that were mentioned in the"Roll your own CD-ROM" message, and
they are going to contact them to see if they also make videodics.

Thank you,
