This is an update about The Galatea Network Video Device Control System. -------------------- As the workstation 'flotsam.mit.edu' may be disappearing soon, the Galatea distribution will now be available on 'media-lab.mit.edu' (Internet 18.85.0.2) via anonymous ftp. For now, the Galatea 2.4 distribution is available with the filename 'galatea.2.2.tar.Z' (Yes, 2.2, not 2.4) in the top-level anonymous ftp directory. As soon as possible, a 'galatea' subdirectory will be created, and the filename will be corrected to 'galatea.2.4.tar.Z' Because of space limitations, only the compressed, tar(1) version of the distribution will be available, no cpio(1) version. The documentation should also be available there, again compressed. (galatea.2.4.doc.PS.Z and galatea.2.4.doc.lpt.Z) A summary about Galatea will be also available as 'galatea.announce'. The mailing lists galatea-users@athena.mit.edu, galatea-bugs@athena.mit.edu, and galatea-request@athena.mit.edu still exist, but merely point to identically named lists on media-lab.mit.edu. It is probably best to use the media-lab lists: galatea-request@media-lab.mit.edu, galatea-users@media-lab.mit.edu, and galatea-bugs@media-lab.mit.edu Daniel I. Applebaum Interactive Cinema M.I.T.
