The International Interactive Communications Society (IICS) is a
professional organization dedicated to the advancement of interactive
technologies.  It brings together people interested in training and
education, computer science, instructional design, marketing,
multimedia production and communications.

Local IICS chapters are located in major cities.  Most chapters hold
monthly meetings which feature speakers and showcase applications.

The next meeting of the IICS NY chapter will be held on Wednesday,
November 14 at 6:30 pm at the AT&T Infoquest Center, 550 Madison Ave
(enter 55th St), NYC.

The meeting topic is 

     USER INTERFACE CHALLENGES: THE NEXT GENERATION

Featured speakers will be:

Dr. Mihai Nadin (Belser Knowledge Services) on developing a conceptual
framework for human-machine interaction and the inherent tradeoffs in
human and machine languages.

Nathan Felde (NYNEX Science and Technology Center Media Lab) on
efforts to develop high-performance mixed-media network concepts to
take advantage of optical fiber, massively parallel processor, and
broadband switching technologies.

Ron Martinez (TRANS Fiction Systems) on the design of CD-I (compact
disc interactive) with emphasis on decision and presentation styles
and methods for bridging the gap between information and emotion in
the new technologies.

There is a $5 fee for members and a $15 fee for non-members.
