[comp.ivideodisc] Hardware compression?

bsmith@postgres.Berkeley.EDU (Brian Smith) (12/14/90)

Hi! I'm looking for leads on video compression boards. I'm not tied
into an architecture (yet), so leads on any and all boards would be
appreciated. Basically, I'd like it to take an analog signal (e.g., NTSC,
PAL, S-video) and have it produce a compressed digital stream output.
The compression could be done using DVI, MPEG, JPEG, DCT/Huffman, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I get enough interest and
response, I'll post what I find back here.

Thanks,
	Brian

Can someone explain the differences between the CLD-980 and the CLD-1080 by
Pioneer. Specs, features, etc.? A local av store is selling them for $299
this weekend only so I would like some information on it before getting it.

For those of you who live in California, the San Francisco area, the store
is Laser City on Bush St. They are having a big sale on Image titles this
weekend (35% off!). They don't do mail order and won't accept AmEx.

Thanks,
