[comp.ivideodisc] Multi Media and Integrated Networks

Hi. I'm a computer scientist (undergrad) planning to do a final
year project on Multi-Media. I have some information about CD-Roms and
visual products and would appreciate any information that you can send.

How do you see multi-media being affected by the new (relatively)
Integrated services digital network (ISDN)?

Thanks in advance for any information you can send.

Hi billy,
Re. your question about ISDN, we are doing R&D work here so when B-ISDN is on
place, we can put compressed video and CD quality audio to the network. We
already have video and audio on fibre around the building. But getting live
video compressed and de-compressed in real time is a problem.
By the way which uni or poly you are attending. I came from uk two years ago.

I'm interested in building a telephone forwarding system
that uses a PC-AT, running MS-DOS, as server.

I have looked into the products of Natural MicroSystems
and of Dialogic and would be thankful if any users
of their telephone audio interface boards could share
their experiences. Boards that have appr. 4 telephone
ports and that digitize to Mu-Law are of most interest.

Names of other companies that sell equivalent products
would also be appreciated.
