I would like to add another question: how about sound recording? Is there
any LVR wich enables sound recording separatly from image recording so that
one could build the sound track after the images were recorded? I only
have the LVR 5000/6000 specs and I couldn't find an answer. I can only guess
that if you use only one laser beam it will record sound and image at the
same time, so the answer to my question would be no. But is there any one
who is sure about this subject?

In the previous article Pedro Lopes asks if there are any Videodisc Recorders
that have the ability for audio dubbing. In the Pioneer Rewritable Laserdisc
specs they have 2ch PCM audio with dubbing capability. I noticed that this
player was not mentioned in the list of videodisc recorders.

As far as I know the pioneer is the only player with two heads to allow bith
erase and record on a single pass. The player uses a MO disc with a 1/3 full
stroke access time of 0.2 Seconds and uses SMPTE time codes. A single player
is all that is required, not a record unit and a seperate playback unit.
