I recently received by direct mailing an annoucement of a supported ICON for the Mac. I purchased it, and with the package came an announcement of a SNOBOL4 for the Mac as well. Both the ICON (called ProIcon) and the SNOBOL4 (called MaxSPITBOL) come with a development environment (editor and windows), and an exportable runtime system. The entire Icon package fits on a single 800Kb diskette. Both have support for file and text dialogs and window manipulation (but no direct access to the Mac toolbox). I have been quite pleased with ProIcon, and have ordered MaxSPITBOL as well. I previously had been running the Arizona Mac Icon, which must be run under MPW and doesn't handle files very nicely. Both ProIcon and MaxSPITBOL can be ordered from Catspaw, Inc. MaxSPITBOL costs $195.00. plus shipping. Its great to see my favorite languages supported on the Mac!
