I never got the impression that anyone was condemning C. Aren't you overreacting a bit? Whether or not the poster was correct in this instance, it does seem that making C behave like Icon often does result in very poor performance. Granted, you can often go down some by-way, and come up with a new Iconish library routine that will outperform Icon itself. But this is the very sort of in- convenience that Icon was intended to help us avoid. It's a trade- off. Name your poison. -Richard
