Is there an IBM-370 assembler interpreter available running under MS-DOS? If so, where might it be found? I'm taking a class these uses Assembler H under MVS and I'd like to prototype my programs at home. I've heard of an ASSIST teaching assembler running under MS-DOS, but evidently its characteristics aren't the same as that of Assembler H. I'd prefer something PD or shareware, but all information is considered. Regarding your request for information on an IBM assembler (370) package for MS-DOS. The animal does exist. In fact, IBM is now supplying one for use on the PS/2 (I don't know if it runs on a non-PS/2). Packages are also available from the folks at Micro-Focus, and will run on all MS-DOS/PC-DOS compatible machines. There is also a Shareware version written by an ex-IBM systems programmer type, which I have a VERY old (3 or 4 years) version of, but it does give his name, mailing address, and phone for the latest version. Sorry, but I don't have it here at the office, rather, at home. If you want the info, mail back, and I'll get it to you. Tim Tierney "Old Systems Programmers never die....they just drop their bits."

Hi, The shareware PC/370 was last release as v4.2, then the product was passed to micro-focus. I contacted the author a year ago and understand he is not working on it any more. I have it and can send it - it take some 3 disks (360k) when zipped. Better still, I can upload it to a common ftp site - any ideas? -- Regards Eyal
