[comp.lang.asm370] 370 Assembler on UNIX

igo@sparc27.hri.com (Frederick J. Igo) (05/03/91)

Can anyone tell me if they have seen a 370 Assembler that runs on Unix
and generates 370 object code? Output of compatible TEXT files would
be best, but any output would be acceptable. I'm not looking for a
cross assembler, only a 370 Assembler that runs on Unix. (I suppose
'runs on Unix' may mean 'is coded in C'.) Any information on such a
program would be greatly appreciated.

I've read about pc370, but I don't have a pc. Would it be possible
to port pc370 to a Sun? What language is pc370 written in? Does
it support 370-XA?

Thanks

I've heard that someone was configuring GCC for 370 object code.

Unfortunately I have lost track of who that is.

I'm sure Amdahl ships a 370 assembler with UTS, and AIX/370 includes
an assembler (as). These generate UNIX .o files, not card-image
object deck format.
