Has anybody cobbled together the NNTP client library and the NNTP server to make an NNTP client library that talks directly to the news system (i.e. looks at the news directories rather than going through the network). There are a few sites that have news installed (but not NNTP) and would like to run XRN (an X-based NNTP news reader) without installing NNTP.
