I recently got a graphics board and the associated software for my Rainbow 100. WOW! It's like having a whole new computer! My faith has been renewed! Wanna know what really made me feel GREAT? I have two pages of graphics output from my LA50 printer hanging in my office. A co-worker walked into the office, bent over and peered closely at the pages, and said "Wow! What kind of printer did that?" Other people have also been impressed by these demo pages. Mind you, the software is NOT perfect (somewhat limited without programming in assembler or in Mark William's C), but the RGI (Rainbow Graphics Interpreter) is NEAT. Now I'm hot to get a commercial graphics package. Through the very helpful efforts of our DEC Sales Rep, Robin Osborne, I also got a 30% discount on the board from the local DEC Business Center. This was related in some way to the discounts that DEC is giving (planning to give?) to employees of corporations that buy DEC products. With the discount, the graphics option goes for $315. I have looked at the docs, and it looks like you are pretty much stuck unless you want to use CP/M. I avoid that where possible. David Willcox uiucdcs!ccvaxa!willcox
