I don't actually do it, but I've thought about it.  A leaf site I feed
has what appears to be a 9600 baud internet connection, with the
result that things are always backed up (as I type, the current
nntpxmit connection has been running for 12 hours, and 3500 articles
have come in during that time).  If I switched to a UUCP/TCP feed I
could speed things up considerably by sending compressed batches.

I understand that the revised NNTP specification will allow article
compression, so I'll probably just wait for that to come out and then
insist that the downstream site upgrade.
