Setup: Cnews 7-Sep-90 NNTP 1.5.10 Sys V R 3.2.2 (AT&T for 3B2) Running the above setup with nntp in server mode I can't get newsrun to work properly when execle'd out of nntp. It executes but no matter what, when it reaches the decompress code, the "if compress -d <$f >$text 2>/dev/null" section always evaluates to true, even if the batch in not compressed!! Thus newsrun thinks the file is empty and deletes it. However, if newsrun is run out of cron or from the command line as either the news user or superuser, it behaves just fine on both compressed and uncompressed batches. Does anyone have a clue? As a temporary work around, I broke the excele() call in the nntp batch.c code and run newsrun out of cron. I'd prefer to call it from nntpd the way it was meant to work. Thanks for any and all suggestions. -- Mike Dobson, Sys Admin for | Internet: rdc30med@nmrdc1.nmrdc.nnmc.navy.mil nmrdc1.nmrdc.nnmc.navy.mil | UUCP: ...uunet!mimsy!nmrdc1!rdc30med AT&T 3B2/600G Sys V R 3.2.2 | BITNET: dobson@usuhsb or nrd0mxd@vmnmdsc WIN/TCP for 3B2 | MCI-Mail: 377-2719 or 0003772719@mcimail.com
