[news.software.nntp] What causes password file entry to show up in nntp server?

tale@rpi.edu (David C Lawrence) (01/25/91)

One of my neighbours is currently giving me the following cruft in
response to my nntpxmit attempts to transfer him news:

Jan 23 09:02:22 usenet nntpxmit[29310]: gdstech.grumman.com xfer: ihave

And:

Jan 22 20:04:45 usenet nntpxmit[26121]: gdstech.grumman.com xfer: 436 tree:jtybpu8HRHPws:101:100:Hong-Yi Ip,D12-237,6828369:/usr/users/htree:/bin/csh

I know this has come up before, but since it wasn't affecting me I
didn't store its cause in ready access in my brain. What does this
again? Having SETPROCTITLE and CNEWS? I should tell him to just not
define SETPROCTITLE and rebuild his server?
