[news.software.nntp] How do you post using nntp?

rferguso@ECN.PURDUE.EDU (Robert S. Ferguson) (01/23/91)

Could somebody tell me how to post using nntp. The reason I need to know
is that I just found out that when I post news, my message does not leave
my system. I have no trouble reading news, but the only way I can post
right now is by sending mail to berkeley, which seems awkward to me.
Also, what are the names of some of the nntp news-readers? I have looked
around, but have not found any on my system. I have figured out how to
read news with nnpt, but I don't know how to post. Any help would be
appreciated.

I posted this last week, but something is still wrong with my postnews,
and it didn't leave my machine again, as usual. Normally I use rn, but
I can use readnews and vnews. I could not find NN, Bnews or Cnews any-
where on my machine. I guess I just keep posting like this.

>to learn how to post with NNTP -- sounds to difficult. Thanks again for
>all the help!
