We have installed C-News on a sun SparcStation together with NNTP 1.5.9. All seems OK. Now trying to install nn news reader on several clients to read via NNTP. When posting is attempted, the NNTP server fails with a 441 error (posting failed). To illustrate - I Telnet to port 119 on the server machine from one of the clients, and enter "post": 200 ob1 NNTP server version 1.5.9 (4 July 1990) ready at Wed Feb 13 11:50:47 199 1 (posting ok). post 441 Cannot create temporary file. 441 ews:*:6:6::/usr/lib/newsspool:/bin/csh quit 205 ob1 closing connection. Goodbye. Connection closed by foreign host. ********************************************* Questions: 1) How does the posted article get injected into the news stream? Is nntpd invoking inews on the server? 2) Where is this "temporary file" trying to be created, by whom, and why does it fail?
