[news.software.nntp] How do I prevent outsiders from posting??

mahesh@caradhras.cc.nd.edu (Mahesh Subramanya) (03/13/91)

The title pretty much sez. it. For the last week or
so, some dweeb calling himself Stuart Weiner has been posting
stuff from our central news machine. If (that's a small if), this
is from an external site, how do I prevent this?
I've already set up my nntp access_file to lock out
any non-NotreDame machine from reading/posting. Anything else I can do???

Thanx

Try to compile NNTP 1.5.11 with the per-user authorization scheme enabled
(#define AUTH). Although this will be defined in the NNTP 2.0 protocol spec
eventually, it should work now.
