As of 2 days ago (May 5, 1991), when I connect to my usual nntp server using "telnet hostname 119", if I type "group junk", it closes the connection with "connection closed by foreign host". "junk" is the only newsgroup for which this happens. Also, "newnews junk 910505 000000" works fine. When I check on the nntp server in the spool directory, the lib/sys, lib/active, and lib/history files, nothing has changed in terms of junk still being an active newsgroup. The nntp_access file is also unchanged. The nntp server is running nntp 1.5, dated 26 Feb 88. It is a Sun3/110 running SunOS 4.0.3. All the news files are on a SCSI drive local to that machine. Anyone have any clues why this is happening? If you post a reply, please also send me a copy by email, as our news is not very reliable and we seem to miss articles here and there. -- Mike Khaw ParcPlace Systems, Inc., 1550 Plymouth St., Mountain View, CA 94043 Domain=khaw@parcplace.com, UUCP=...!{uunet,sun,decwrl}!parcplace!khaw
