Has anyone implemented a caching server as hinted by RFC 977 section 1.5? I'm connected to my nntp servers via slip at 9600bps, and am using gnus as my reader. I'ld love to trade disk space for faster response time. However, I do NOT want to setup a partial feed server. I want it to look as though I am getting a full feed. The intermediate server should simply use the slip connection to satisfy cache misses. Has anyone released something like this? Any suggestions on code I could fairly easily modify to do this? Please respond via email, I'll summarize any solutions. Bill Voss <voss@cs.uiuc.edu>
