I'm trying to switch over from Microport 286 Unix to Bell Tech/ISC 386 Unix, and, as I've mentioned before, Bell Tech Unix, as distributed, will not support more than two dumb serial ports other than their own dumb board nor does it appear to support non-Bell Tech tape drives. If Bell Tech Unix is going to be *the* generic Unix, and certainly the 386 is a much nicer Unix platform than the 286, Bell Tech is, I think, going to have to support the same hardware Microport supports, else existing customers with things like the Digiboard-8 are going to have to buy the Microport 386 Unix. The point? Bell Technologies is losing sales by not supporting dumb serial boards and tape drives other than their own. I've enjoyed the postings by Bell Tech employees on the net. Please fix these problems. I really don't want to have to "go back", if you know what I mean. -- -- uunet!sugar!karl -- These may be the official opinions of Hackercorp -- I'll have to ask Peter.
