I have a PC Limited 286 -8, 1MB, ST251 disk with the latest d11 rom bios installed. It runs the SysV/286 ok but I just installed locus merge. It shifts to dos on command, but on return to dos, the problems begin. During some commands, the screen freezes. If I try to reboot from the $ or # prompt, it makes one quick disk seek, then freezes. No key will free it. A contr-alt-del simply prints on the screen "The system is coming down" and nothing else happens. Each type the c-a-d is pushed after that, the same message is printed. The only way to thaw it is to turn off the power and risk the file system corruption. A c-a-d from dos produces the proper warm boot but the files suffer and the fscheck does the usual repair. A simple c-a-d from unix or a shutdown, so long as the dos side hasn't been involked produces the expected results. Only after having been in dos do I get the problems. The boot indicates Clists=45 buffers=100k. Is there some tunable paramater, such as BUFFS that I could change to eliminate the problem? Other than the obvious [stay out of dos] is there anything I can I can do to make this thing run right? Please email replies since this is not a normal newsgroup for me. Thanks. ======================================================================= Rohan Kelley -- UNIleX Systems, Inc.
