[] Anybody looking for an el-cheapo terminal? For a short time, (I'm not sure when the sale ends), Radio Shack is selling thier hokey micro color computer for $59.95 (in Canada, I don't know how incredibly cheap it is in the US). Anyway, the amazing thing about it is that this micro coco has a BUILT-IN RS232. However, the owner's manual does not tell how to access the serial port. I bought one of these things and ordered the technical manual, which will hopefully tell me how to read from the port and set baud rates, etc. If enough people are interested, I will describe using this wee beasty as a terminal to the net (once I get the doc, of course). i too recently purchased one of these mc-10 computers from radio shack. (cost = $49.00 at christmas time) my original intent was to use it for math drills with my son. but i found out that the shack also sells a terminal program called "compac" for $29.00 so i thought i would give it a try. it is a simple 'dumb terminal' program but is really quite good. it can run at 110, 300, or 1200 baud. i tried all three and they worked flawlessly. also it has a feature to store all incoming info so you can look back at was has already scrolled off the screen. this feature stores about 2 pages with the built in 4k ram and up to about 20 pages if you have the additional 16k ram pack. so has a cheap portable terminal i think it is great !! but i can't get my kid to let me borrow it !!!!!! steve lorenz at&t technologies montgomery works ihnp4!mgweed!spl
