[comp.unix.microport] stty

Here's a question that I could use the answer to..  Why do I get the message

		STTY: : not a typewriter.
		
whenever my mail is read???  It doesn't appear any other time and it occurs
whether I am on console or a remote.  The console is set to be AT386 and the
remotes to vt100...

If you are using the csh or the ksh, see if you start up files .cshrc or
what ever you have set in the ENV variable to in the ksh, includes a
stty command. Move these commands to .login or .profile respectively.
