I have recently replaced the printer on a SYS V/AT 2.3 system with an ALPS Allegro 24 printer. The new printer is running real slooooooow (about 5 seconds/line). The printer works fine under MS/DOS. Has anyone seen this before, does anyone have any ideas/suggestions. This is probably the same problem that used to occur on 386/ix and other versions. Some clone machines have parallel ports that don't work quite right w.r.t. interrupts. Eg: they aren't compatible with standard parallel ports, but not in a manner that causes DOS problems. It is possible to work around this problem (386/ix does now). Try this on a different manufacturer's box, or bug your O/S vendor for a fix. -- Chris Lewis, Markham, Ontario, Canada {uunet!attcan, utgpu, yunexus, utzoo}!lsuc!ecicrl!clewis Ferret Mailing list: ...!lsuc!gate!eci386!ferret-request (or lsuc!gate!eci386!clewis or lsuc!clewis)
