I've read, with interest, the recent full-page ads in BYTE and other mags about the virtues of the Prometheus PROMODEM 12000. I am now seriously considering moving up from my Hayes 300 to a 1200 baud device and the PROMODEM 1200 looks promising. There is, however, a bit of confusion. The ad clearly shows a unit with an alphanumeric display. I now find that there are several options available, the display being one of them. Is there anyone out there that can describe for the members of this net (not to mention me), that can define what the PROMODEM 1200 system consists of, the basic unit capability and the function of the options? As a start, some of the options I've found are: "options proces- sor", "memory" (in 16K increments up to 64K), and "alphanumeric dis- play". The latter seems obvious but the first needs expanding. I will post all responses, or summary thereof, to the net. Wolf Wiedemann RADC Griffiss AFB, NY

How "Hayes compatible" is the basic model "Promodem 1200"? What options does the "options processor" provide? Does anyone out there have any "hands-on" experience with this product? Any information (like from product flyers) would be grately appreciated!! Wolf Wiedemann
