I finally got Jetroff to work with uport V/386 through the excellent
help of Rick Richardson at PC Research. Apparently the problem is in how
uport handles the LP interface. To properly setup the printer for
interpretation of all 8 data bits, you need to turn-on "transparent"
mode with the "lpset" command. Something like:
lpset /dev/lp 0 240 60 ON
This enables transperancy and allows Jetroff to function properly. I
recommend you put this in your /etc/rc2.d/lp script.
Many thanks to all who responded to my original posting and those
who followed up with help-files and suggestions.
