[comp.unix.microport] Call To Save Microport

jmsully@CIPHER_1.UUCP (John M. Sully) (03/18/89)

Do you like XENIX (HELL NO PARDNER!!!!!!!). This is a call to all of you
hackers and hackettes. If you dont like the smell of the dreaded XENIX
(comparable to getting AIDS) and you don't like deal with wannabe's like
BELL tech, then do I have a deal for you????. Call Microport and let them
know that you have a big fear of non - standard diseases (ala Xenix).
I am not an industry pundit, however, Having sampled the crap that
SCO puts out, and the fact that they (SCO) think their shit don't stink,
but their farts give them away. Lets give Microport an incentive to stay in
business. If you feel as I do, then call them A.S.A.P. I know the folks
at uport, and even though they have had some problems with their products,
they have cheerfully assisted in resolving and correcting them. Where else
could you get the same service ??????. Nowhere without paying through the
rectal orifice, which tends to be extremely odiferous. I know that every
employee is fighting and trying their hardest not to let you folks down
and to keep the business going. You can help. Now is the time. Do it...
System V.3.2 ATT standard will live, not some bastard child of systems III and 7
Thanks for reading this. I can be reached at 619-693-7266 office number.
My name is Andy Georgiou. And if you cannot reach me at work, my home number
is 619-549-8702. I am not on the net, but you can call and I will be glad to
respond.

What a well reasoned technical analysis of the (successful)
	competition.

Seeing the quality of the people job hunting at Uniforum I
have doubts about the quality of the survivors. Is this one?
This babbling cretin with the feces complex? If this is what's
left euthanasia is called for, to avoid destroying the memory of
    M.P. as it was.

Excuse me? Anyone who wait **years** for a working serial
driver and DOSmerge may not totally agree with you.

Actually M.P. and V.3 are not synonomous. V.3 will live...

Some of the things I said might be taken as personal insults.
They were. I doubt that this person, whoever s/he is, lack net
access. There was certainly access to post this. I realize that
losing your job is tough, but thousands do it with some grace
and dignity. M.P. will live or die by profits (or more likely
loss) and all the good wishes in the world won't pay a single
    bill.

Disclamer: I have nothing but best wishes for the people at
M.P., some of whom I consider friends. I have stated in other
groups that I am a (former) dissatisfied user of their products,
but that is totally a technical issue.

Not necessarially.

I called the number given in the posting. The person named did admit to
sending that very article to John Sully, but claimed that he had asked
John to "clean it up and post it". Obviously it wasn't cleaned up. He
also said that his phone had been ringing off the hook..........

The site it was posted from is bogus, but it DID go directly to uunet.
Therefore, it is probably reasonable to assume that it came from a
subscriber's system. I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed posted
by John or someone else with access to his account.

All it takes to change the node name on a posting is a little creative editing
on the file itself before it is picked up for outbound spooling, or setting
the nodename to something different before you post.....

I wouldn't be surprised if there are serious repercussions from that little
bitty of misinformation...
