Hello, We have a Microport System 5/386 v3.0e Unix system. I am looking for a package that will allow a PC to act as a PC-Scancode terminal for DosMerge. I haven't heard of any such thing, but from what I've seen the real PC-Scancode terminals (like the Wyse 60) are at least as expensive as what you can get a PC for these days. If possible, I'd like information on exactly how they work. I presume they act just like a regular ascii terminal except they send a null before an extended key code. Also, we are going to set up a local ethernet network, and would like to know if any PD software is available for telnet and ftp servers. We currently have Western Digital WD8003E Ethercard + cards, which came with streams drivers. Are we going to have to get the network extensions from Microport to support these cards and tcp & co.? More specifically, what's the bare minimum for running telnet & ftp? Thanks for any assistance. -- Bernie Hoffstadt (503) 752-5929 * Internet: cutter%cutsys.UUCP@CS.ORST.EDU 1437 N.W. 9th st. -or- 753-1646 * -or- cutter@jacobs.CS.ORST.EDU Corvallis, Oregon 97330 **** UUCP: {tektronix,hp-pcd}!orstcs!cutsys!cutter
