From: Lillian Larijani <casey@BRL-VGR.ARPA> A friend has these queries about Unix and the upcoming AT&T machine. Please send responses to her (casey@ucla-ats); she is not on the mailing list. ------------ Could you please solicit (via the UNIX net or CSNET or whatevernet) information about the intended entrance into the small pc market by AT&T with their micro using UNIX? Some questions (for which short, to-the-point answers would be appreciated) are: How adaptable is unix for a pc to business needs? Will it [both the AT&T machine and Unix] compete in the market? Why? or Why not? Would an AT&T machine using unix enjoy widespread appeal to the business community? What are some obvious advantages of unix (for business applications) over the other op. sys. out there? Would the unix running on an AT&T pc be compatible with one for an IBM pc? ----- Thanks in advance, Willard Korfhage
