Hi folks, I'm about to acquire another 386 box to run ISC 386/ix. This one's going to have a 340 MB disk to start, and probably another 340 in the not too distant future. I'm starting to wonder about how to divide up the disk. I'd like to go with 60MB partitions to match the size of my tape drive, making backups easy. I know I don't want to build any file systems bigger than 130000 blocks to avoid a kernel/disk driver bug, so my 60MB partition size should be fine. However, I recently saw a post in one of these groups about the filesystems being unreliable once they were larger than about 80000 blocks. Is this true? Is the bug based on block size, or filesystem size in bytes? If so, will I need to worry about the problem using the disk drivers for 386/ix V2.0, which uses 1k block sizes (unless I'm mistaken). Comments? Mail to me will be summarized to the net (anonymously, if you prefer), or post-- I expect there's enough interest to warrant it.
