[comp.unix.microport] ksh on uport w/o dosmerge

randy@rls.UUCP (Randall L. Smith) (04/22/89)

Help! I'm having trouble getting ksh inline editing to work on an Intel
302 box. I'd like to use emacs and I have it working on an Intel 301
*with* DosMerge but no cigar for the straight version sans DosMerge.

My .profile is;

TERM=ansi; export TERM
EDITOR=emacs; export EDITOR
VISUAL=emacs; export VISUAL
HISTSIZE=1024; export HISTSIZE

with stty reporting;

speed 9600 baud; line = 0; intr = ^c; quit = ^|; erase = ^h; kill = ^u;
eof = ^z; eol = ^`; swtch = ^` -parenb -parodd cs8 -cstopb -hupcl cread
-clocal -loblk -ignbrk brkint ignpar -parmrk -inpck istrip -inlcr -igncr
icrnl -iuclc ixon -ixany -ixoff isig icanon -xcase echo echoe echok
-echonl -noflsh opost -olcuc onlcr -ocrnl -onocr -onlret -ofill -ofdel tab3

and this works beautifully on the DosMerge variety. I thought I
remembered someone, not real long ago, having the same problem. This
goes for all logins, not just root.

Also, while I have your attention :-), I'm trying to install a Smart
DIGIBOARD Com xi on the same system and I get ***config failed*** right
after I say ok to the install kernel question. Then It says, "Unix
system generation complete" but theres no kernel in any of the
directories. Digiboard sent me a new floppie fed-ex for installation
but now I think its a local problem and they don't have any more ideas.
I'm running the limited kernel, could that have an effect? I've re-built
the system three times now and I'm getting tired.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers!

You're just missing FCEDIT=emacs!
