I'm posting this for Jaws2 Microsystems, Inc. There's a new Intelligent Serial I/O card on the block. The JCOM8 is an 80186 based serial card with up to 128K dual ported RAM. It fits in one 16-bit AT slot and has 8 ports. Up to four boards may be used together for a total of 32 ports. That's a full 16-bit 80186 for each 8 ports for high performance and low host CPU overhead. The board lists for $895 for the 8 port version and $795 for the 4 port version (expandable to 8 ports). I wrote the Unix/Xenix drivers for this card, but I'm not getting royalties on the sales. I can however get the boards at a greatly reduced price. I'm sure I can get the board for anyone interested for less than the cost of a "dumb" card. This is one way to solve the double-panic problem on System V/AT and get some spare ports in the deal too. There are drivers for Microport 286/386, Interactive, and SCO Xenix. Send e-mail to the adress below if you're interested in more info. -- David Beckemeyer (david@bdt.UUCP) | "Adios amigos.
