[comp.unix.microport] bus mouse & DOSMerge

Is there an easy trick to making a new Logitech Bus Mouse work under
DOSMerge 1.1 and V386 3.0e? Other than buying VP/ix?

The kernel I've been running for months lets me use Logitech's mtest and
generally works fine for a long while before the system crashes. A system
rebuilt with the same config and .o files (!) dies when mtest starts.
A system with /dev/tty01 put on IRQ-2/9 collapses when I first load the
mouse driver. A system with Jim Murray's asy driver dies about the same as
the later. I once saw something about 'spint...', but generally DOSMerge
effectively hides all signs of the crash except the long disk write as 8MB
drool into swap.

Microsoft Word 5.0's mouse.sys does no better then Logitech's mouse.{com,sys}.

P.S. Jim Murray's asy driver would be completely wonderful if it had a
useful 'init8250' for DOSMerge. Lotus and so forth seem to work with a
do nothing stubb, but even I won't claim 0 bytes can really substitute for
all of the stuff dis(1) says was in Microport's init8250 in asy.o.
