Hey, I've got a couple questions for you UNIX hackers. How do I add later a bad block to the bad block table under Microport 3.0e? I can do an /etc/hdscan but is there a way to add a block explicitly? Next dumb question: With network services stuff installed, is there a way to set up an RFS link to another 386 UNIX box say with a simple serial streams device? Third dumb question: With DosMerge and Turbo C version 2 installed, Turbo C compiles are very very slow (I composed this while the BGIDEMO was compiling!) Running an sar showed that the system remains 96% idle during the compile. The ps command showed that 'dos' and 'dossvr' where at a normal 20 nice value show it should be able to grab the system. Is this a case there DosMerge assumes that the dos program is waiting for input and thus gives it very little CPU time since the intregrated environment allows you to abort the compile with a keystroke? How can I get this to work better? Thanks, -Mike Grenier mike@cimcor.mn.org uunet!rosevax!cimcor!mike amdahl!bungia!cimcor!mike
