[comp.unix.microport] wanted: cassette driver

kwalker@arizona.edu (Kenneth Walker) (09/22/89)

I have an Everex 60 MB streaming cassette drive on my 386
machine. The Microport tape driver is for the cartridge drive,
so I am limited to backing up my Unix partition with a disk
image backup from MS-DOS. Everex has a Unix driver but only
distributes it with their version of Unix. Does anyone know of
a driver for this device that will run under Microport 386 Unix?
I would be interested in either a public domain or a commercial
version.

Thanks.

The cassette drive should work with the cartridge driver if you have
one of the controller cards specified in the release notes.

If you do have one of these controllers (EV811B and EV83X) and it gives
a lot of errno 6 (ENXIO) returns, you might try adjusting the delay
constant in the space.c file for the driver.

If you don't have the "qic" driver, call Microport and they can send it
to you.
