We have TWO open research positions, to be filled as soon as possible, for
                        1 RESEARCH ASSISTANT
                        1 ANALYST/PROGRAMMER
They will participate in research on intelligent discovery systems in the
framework of the National Research Program PNR 23 "Artificial intelligence
and robotics".
Duration: 18 month (renewable for another 18 month).
 
We offer:
    - participation in an advanced research project in AI and Education
    - up-to-date computing facilities (Symbolics 3620, Sun, MacIIcx)
    - a nice working environment
    - a salary of Sfr. 61'000/year for the analyst programmer
      and Sfr. 48'000/year for the research assistant
     (subtract about 30% for taxes, social security etc)
 
The analyst-programmer should have
    - EITHER a degree in computer science or related field
      (preferably in AI or AI-ED)
      OR a university degree in any field plus documented experience in AI
      or AI-ED research and programming (publications, programs)
    - good knowledge of AI Programming and Lisp
 
The research assistant should
    either  - have a degree in computer science or related field and
              have knowledge in AI Programming
    or      - have a degree in cognitive science or psychology and education,
              be familiar with cognitive science methodology
              and have a strong interest for AI and Education
    or      - have any degree plus qualifications fitting our research purpose

Interest in AI and Education is required for both jobs.
Any publication, research experience with an operational ITS or Microworld,
or degree in AI-ED is a big plus.
We'd prefer hiring two persons with experience and/or training in the
field of AI and Education, but considering the shortage in this field
we also consider hiring an AI Programmer plus a Psychologist (or similar).
