[comp.ai.edu] Looking for "Racter" and "Parry" mad exper-systems

marx@SHUM.HUJI.AC.IL (Michael Marx) (05/05/91)

Hi people,

A while ago I was looking for a psychological "expert system" named
Doctor (which I basically recall from the old Alpha-Micro machines),
I got lots of replies where to find it (The most common answer was --
in EMACS). Furthermore, I was given the basic source of Eliza - the
"Mother" of Doctor.
Now I am looking for 2 other program, both similar to "Doctor" and
"Eliza", they are:

1) Parry (sp?) - A paranoid person.
2) Racter - Basically a story teller, but an 'expert system' with
a personality, more amusing than educating.
Please advice where I can find those 2 systems,

Thanks,

RACTER is sold by Mindscape software. It's available for the Macintosh, PC,
and probably Amiga. The scripting language development environment is
available for the PC.

If you can't get it from your local software shop, I can dig up the address
of the author's company in NJ; they'll be able to help you.

There's a book written by RACTER, called "The Policeman's Beard is
Half-Constructed". It's out of print at the moment. Pity, because it's very
good in places. I think it was published by Warner Books.
